At last it's beach day, and cousins Harry and Tommy are ready. Aurorasauras leads them to a quiet little cove behind a big rock, where Pumpkin stretches his paws and speaks! "You can TALK!" cries Tommy. Aurorasauras explains that Artie has magic, and it's their secret. Then a shining tail rises from the water, and Pearl the mermaid says hello.

Just then, Percy steps around the rock and can hardly believe his eyes. He calls Polly to come and see, but Polly laughs: she has known Pearl all along! The friends build sandcastles, share a picnic with Peggy and admire Percy's sand boat. As they pack up to go home, Aurorasauras spots someone along the beach who looks just like Rosie, Pip's mum.
