Dreams of an Electric Tomorrow

The Future Begins with a Dream by Paul "Rawly" Rawlinson

Emily Whitmore is seventeen and lives on her family's ranch in the hills of West Virginia, where her inventor dad fills the main house with talking machines and her mum keeps the guest cottages gloriously low-tech. Emily works at the local visitor centre, loves the lake and her horse Gippeto, and almost never takes a day off.

Then the Bennett family arrive from America for a month in Poppy Cottage, with their little daughter Lily and their son Shaun, who never wanted to come. Days out, a trip to Dolphin Bay, evenings by the lake and two eighteenth birthdays turn one summer into something neither of them expected.

A warm, funny and heartfelt novel about family, first love and a future full of clever machines, told across 41 chapters.
